I am very excited to share my big, beautiful Emmy with you. I’ve created two versions of this sculpt side by side, both with similar features, including big, bouncy, curly hair.

Many of you know that my absolute favourite sculpts to work with are the larger child and toddler sizes. They take more time and patience, but I love the process, especially rooting all that gorgeous hair and dressing them up at the end is always such a joy.

I hope you can see the love I put into creating her in the photos. There’s a full album on this Facebook link Facebook along with videos on Instagram and Facebook.

Emmy has been created from the Emmy RealBorn sculpt.

"A Realborn® is a replica of the real baby.
The beauty, innocence and soul of the child is captured like never before. The most beautiful and perfect canvas ever offered to the reborn world!

Created from 3D scans of the real child by our team of artists, designers, and technicians at Bountiful Baby."

I have taken pictures of Emmy over several days in natural daylight and at different times of day and under room lighting.

Painting

I spent many days slowly building up ethnic skin tone details layer by layer. I used Genesis Heat Set Paints with my dedicated doll oven to create her skin tones over several weeks. To complete her look, I finished her with Gemini Heat Set Matte Varnish, adding a gentle texture to her skin.

Body

Emmy has her own beautifully made cloth body with full vinyl arms and legs that move easily for posing. Her limbs and bottom are weighted, but her head is filled with soft fibre rather than weight, as I feel heavy heads aren’t practical for dolls of this size. To help her maintain an upright position, I’ve added internal foam support inside her body, and her head turns smoothly from side to side.

Eyes

Emmy has open brown glass eyes with hand rooted eyelashes.

Hair

I’ve used a black synthetic tight curly hair for Emmy. This is my first time working with this type of fibre, and from my research I advise not using heat on it, it cannot be straightened or blow dried. If you wash it, the curls will bounce back tightly again. You can towel dry the hair, but it must be left to dry naturally. Her hair is directionally rooted and sealed twice on the inside to help prevent shedding. Because she has a lot of hair. With this much hair, a little shedding is normal.

Sizing

Emmy is roughly the size of a 3 year old and 30inchs long. Most of her outfits are 2-3 years and a little snug, though 3-4 years offers a looser, easier fit depending on the brand and the look you prefer. Her weight is approximately 14lb. She sits upright without support and rests comfortably on the hip when carried. Because of her size and heaviness, she may not be suitable for all collectors, she has been designed with dedicated collectors in mind.

Magnets

Even though Emmy is no longer a baby, she’s still only three and enjoys a comfort dummy from time to time. I’ve placed a magnet behind her mouth so she can hold a magnetic dummy whenever you wish. (Please note that the neo magnets I use are very strong and may pose a risk around pacemakers. If this is a concern, feel free to message me and I can remove them.)

Adoption

If you’re considering Emmy for a younger collector, please keep in mind that she isn’t a toy. She includes small parts and has been crafted with collectors in mind, so she should be handled with care and affection.

Home

I take great pride in creating a beautiful box opening experience, and I often share these moments on my social media pages. Emmy will arrive with a carefully thought out selection of new items and accessories. Her box will be heavy, so you may need a little help lifting it when she arrives.

I hope her photos bring you joy. Thank you for taking the time to view them. If you have any questions about Emmy or my work, please feel free to message me, I’m always happy to talk about all things Baby Doll related.
